Belihuloya – breath-taking views, amazing adventures, and fun that never ends!

Belihuloya is a small hamlet in Sri Lanka’s hill country, which is a perfect location for adventure holidays, and is a great spot for viewing nature at its very best. The natural beauty of the area is unsurpassed, and the Horton Plains national park in its backdrop adds a whole new dimension to its splendour.

Belihuloya is located 160km from Colombo, and is in an area that combines several degrees of transition – Sri Lanka’s wet zone and dry zone; hill country and low country; grasslands, montane and savannah forests – making it one of the richest spots in the country for biodiversity.

Most of Sri Lanka’s great national parks can be accessed from Belihuloya. The Horton Plains National Park, and the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary are within its close proximity. It serves as the ideal location to start wildlife tours to Udawalawe, Yala, and Lunugamvehera National Parks and the Sinharaja Forest Reserve.

The area is home to some of the most picturesque waterfalls in Sri Lanka, including Bambarakanda (at 241m, the highest in the island), Brampton, Diyaluma (220m), Duvili, Galagama, Pahanthuda, Papulagala, Rawana, Surathalie, and Walawa Ganga (West) falls. Photo opportunities are aplenty, so bring your cameras!

Belihuloya is ideal for honeymoon tours, as it is the ultimate honeymoon destination owing to its immersion in nature and its magnificent views and quiet surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of big city life.

Whether you choose to relax in an environment with misty mornings, cool breezes, and clean air, to go on a nature tour to the surrounding area, partake in the many fun activities the area facilitates (mountain climbing, trekking, hiking, canoeing, and team-building exercises, among others), or go on an adventure tour to any part of the island, let Belihuloya be your base of activity. Nothing is too far away!
